The problem
Balloon Ventures works closely with entrepreneurs and small businesses, generating valuable insights from the field. However, much of this knowledge was dispersed and under-documented, making it challenging to: Demonstrate impact clearly to donors and policy stakeholders Systematically capture entrepreneurs’ lived experiences Translate qualitative insights into credible policy-relevant evidence There was a need for structured, ethical documentation that could support both learning and advocacy without compromising confidentiality.
The Solution
Cause Communications Ltd. designed and delivered a focused qualitative research and documentation assignment that combined insight synthesis with policy-oriented storytelling. Key actions included: Conducting 29 in-depth qualitative interviews with selected stakeholders Synthesising findings using a thematic analysis approach Developing five anonymised case studies to support policy evidence and advocacy efforts Producing a concise insights report suitable for internal learning, donor communication, and external engagement All processes followed strict ethical and confidentiality standards.
The Results
Twenty-nine interviews completed, generating rich qualitative insights 5 structured case studies developed to strengthen policy evidence and programme learning Improved organisational capacity to: Communicate impact with credibility Support policy discussions with grounded field evidence Inform strategic and programmatic decision-making Before: Insights captured informally and inconsistently After: Clear, synthesised learning products aligned to policy and impact needs
