Work With Us — The Cause Communications Intern Programme

Cause Communications runs a hands-on digital communications intern programme designed for young Kenyan creatives who want to build a real career in social media, content creation, and strategic communications.

Our interns work on active client accounts — creating content, developing strategies, conducting street interviews, and learning what it takes to deliver professional communications for real businesses and organisations. Every piece of work goes through the same quality standard we apply to everything we do.

What interns do

  • Create and produce content for active SME clients on TikTok, Instagram, and LinkedIn
  • Conduct on-location street interviews for our video content clients
  • Assist with content calendar management and scheduling
  • Learn the Cause Communications content strategy framework hands-on
  • Attend strategy and review sessions
  • Build a real portfolio of published, client-approved content

Who we are looking for

We are not looking for the most polished CV. We are looking for the right energy.

  • Confident on camera and comfortable approaching strangers — our street interview model requires presence and resilience
  • Bilingual in English and Kiswahili — our content is built for Kenya’s full digital audience
  • Curious about social media, content creation, and communications strategy
  • Willing to learn, take feedback, and keep going when things get hard
  • Based in Nairobi or able to travel within Nairobi for shoots

What you will learn

  • How to build and execute a social media content strategy from brief to post
  • The Cause Communications three-step content framework (Pain → Solution → CTA)
  • Street interview production — shooting, directing, and engaging real people on camera
  • Content creation across TikTok, Instagram, and LinkedIn
  • Client communication, approval processes, and professional delivery standards
  • Analytics — how to measure what is working and adjust what is not

About the programme

  • Duration: 3 months minimum
  • Location: Nairobi, Kenya (in-person; some remote tasks)
  • Commitment: Part-time or full-time, depending on client workload
  • Compensation: Stipend provided for active client project work
  • Supervision: All work reviewed and signed off before anything goes live
  • Portfolio: Interns leave with published, client-approved content in their portfolio
